Marching & Concert Band

The HHS marching band, directed by Mr. Alex Gittelman, represents our school district:

• performs at football games
• a small pep band performs at basketball games
• plays for many other schoolwide events
• leads the annual Haverford Township Day Parade
• plays for the Haverford Township's annual Memorial Day Ceremony
• participates in other township celebrations

During the winter and spring concert season, musicians perform with either the Concert Band or Wind Ensemble. Wind Ensemble is the higher-level group; placement is by audition for both performing groups. Select members of the wind ensemble also perform as part of the school symphony orchestra at orchestra concerts and commencement.

Each year, many HHS band members are selected, through auditiation, for PMEA district and regional band.

The HHS band also travels, for 4 days in the spring of even-numbered years, to an adjudicated music festival in Virginia or Florida. Trips are optional and are paid for by the students who attend.

Competition Marching Band and Color Guard

New to Comp Band? What you need to know …

                         

The Competition Marching Band is a dedicated group of musicians and color guard.  They perform intricate music and drill work on the field, and compete throughout the fall. The Haverford High School Competition Marching Band has a long-standing record of performance excellence.
